According to Kevin Ammons, author on the Whitney Houston unauthorized biography, “Good Girl, Bad Girl,” allegedly, Cissy Houston an open disapproval of Houston’s former friend Robyn Crawford. On a couple of occasion, Cissy allegedly told Whitney, “get rid” of Robyn or she would destroy her career, saying it wasn’t “natural” for just two women for being so close. Ammons also mentions, Robyn allegedly became upset when Bobby Brown (before their marriage) had sent Whitney 4 hundred roses. Ammons adds, Regina Brown, (Whitney’s former publicist) told him, with the 1991 Super Bowl where Houston sung the national anthem, a very public altercation allegedly happened between Whitney and Robyn. Brown alleges that M.C. Hammer appeared, he and Whitney went off by themselves, talking and laughing and Robyn allegedly flipped.
After Hammer left, Robyn went and grabbed Whitney’s arm and pulled her aside and started screaming at her. Allegedly, Robyn screamed, ‘Don’t ever disrespect me such as that,’ Whitney allegedly jerked away and informed her to go to hell and Robyn hauls off and slaps Whitney. Cissy Houston allegedly yelled, ‘don’t you put your hands on my daughter.’ Then wham! Cissy slugs Robyn in their right jaw with her fists and Robyn falls down and Cissy kept punching and kicking her, yelling, ‘I’ll kill you, you stupid b**ch!
Onlookers had to pull Cissy off her. Also, Ammons claims, Regina Brown once told him, among the conditions of earning a living for Whitney was that you just never said a thing about Robyn to anyone. To allegedly insure her silence, Whitney had given Regina many expensive presents: a gold Mercedes-Benz, diamond jewelry studded cross, a company credit card, a calling-card account, diamond stud earrings, free air travel, $125,000 12 months salary and free rent in her luxurious apartment.
I met her when she was 16. It was at a summer job. I was working on a community center in East Orange, New Jersey, and she was working similar to the rest of us. She was there to function. She introduced herself as "Whitney Elizabeth Houston," and I knew quickly she was special. Few people introduced themselves using their middle names in the past. She had peachy colored skin and she didn't mimic anyone I'd ever met in East Orange, New Jersey.
She was not like the Whitney Houston she became but together she was already there. She knew, and so did everyone round her. She was doing shows in Manhattan with your ex mother, and she'd change her clothes in the vehicle and get on stage and do her thing. She hadn't signed her contract yet. But she was modeling for Wilhelmina because she is discovered on the street. She was walking when in front of Carnegie Hall and someone walked about her and said, "There's a modeling agency upstairs that's seeking someone like you." She walked upstairs and they also signed her. That's what it was like, that is what she gave off. She appeared to be an angel. When my mother first met her, she laughed and said, "You resemble an angel, but I know you are." And he or she wasn't. But she looks like one.
