A screen protector is utilized to protect the LCD screens of digital, electronic devices. The personal digital assistant (PDA) is, possibly, the most commonly used device in which screen protectors are utilized since PDAs are operated using a stylus. If not utilized carefully, the tip of the stylus could possibly mark or scratch the delicate LCD screen surface, and for that reason screen protectors were brought to the market. For the usage of the cell phone screen, there are mainly 7 types of screen protector: Privacy Screen Protector, Mirror Screen, Matte Screen Protector, Ultra-Clear Screen Protector,Grid Screen Protector,Diamond Screen Protector as well as 3D Screen Protector.

The latest generation of screen protectors is made of a much more durable film and is created to become a more permanent part of the device which they protect. The material is an urethane-based film that is a little thicker than traditional screen protectors, but the film is barely noticeable once installed. The film originated when the U.S. military was searching for a way to protect the leading edges of their military helicopter blades from rough airborne particles (sand) while traveling at hundreds of miles per hour. It's also made in small sizes, not recommended for bigger than four inch diagonal screens. Considering that the film is very clear, there are difficulties with Ultra violet rays coming from the display to the eyes and then bounce back from the sun. It also does not provide protection from glare and hard to read outside the house.

For less lasting solutions, there are screen protectors which are non-adhesive and work by sitting in the gap between the LCD screen and the case of the device. The film can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled without having problem. This new generation of film can be obtained with anti-glare coating in order to help users see the screen in daytime. The non-adhesive screen protector can cover LCD screens from one inch to 50 inch diagonal and it is used on digital cameras to big High definition TVs.

The anti-reflective screen protector film has been introduced in the year 2008 and works by canceling out glare and also blocking the reflection of Ultra violet rays. This allows users to see the display better, even outdoors and while wearing polarized sunglasses. The film has a tacky rubberized backing which sticks to the display, but can easily be taken out and reinstalled when needed. The film comes in sizes up to fifty inch diagonal and can be installed without need for water or soapy solutions. The film has been approved for use by the army, boaters, laptop manufacturers, law enforcement agencies and is also recommended for everyone who loves to utilize their device outdoors. The film can remain in position for over a year and maintains its glare canceling benefit.

Despite these undoubted advances, the earlier technology maintains a cost benefit. First-generation screen protectors are generally more affordable and can be bought in packs, enabling the consumer to fit them to different gadgets themselves. Second-generation screen protectors however, although more pricey, offer better long-term protection and are often made specifically for each individual device, giving the user with a much better fitting protector.
Author Resource:- A screen protector is now thought to be a requirement for individuals who posses a touch display screen gadget.
